Recipe of the Month

For the recipe treat this month, we go WAY, WAY back to my childhood. I can remember my mom making these for parties (my folks had a lot of parties back in the day…sorry Mom!) and she would always include this favorite snack. It’s perfect for that Sunday afternoon ball game, or anytime you just need an extra goodie to liven-up a get-together. It’s definitely more of an appetizer, rather than a meal, but I’d never be opposed to sitting down with a bowl it and chowing down. Though, I suppose that could be said for many recipes I make.
So, thank you to my mom for this long-ago reminder of what it was to be a child of the 70’s.
Drunken Franks
12 ounces of flat beer
1 bottle of Ketchup
1 large sliced onion
1 large sliced green bell pepper
½ tsp. salt
1 clove garlic, diced
½ tsp. dry mustard
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 packs hot dogs
Mix sauce ingredients together.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 hour.
Slice hot dogs into bite-sized chucks and cook until hot.
Note: My extra-easy note on this is to make the sauce in your Crock Pot. Throw in the hot dogs and cook on low all day.
As with all my recipes, please let me know your thoughts if give this a try.
Enjoy!
